Craig started homebrewing in
1990 after receiving a homebrew kit for Christmas. His interest in
Chemistry, manufacturing and all things mechanical resonated quite well
with brewing beer. Experimenting with styles and ingredients continued as
the hobby took on a life of it's own. The kitchen stayed clean, and there
was always beer in the fridge. Seemed like a win-win for everyone.
Disgruntled with work in the Aerospace industry, Craig got a few guys together in 1995 to try a new adventure...starting a brewpub. Planning to make millions (turns out that applied to ounces!), and always have good beer to drink, the group started out. The boat was a little rocky at first, but with persistance, the business took off to the point that it is one of the premier brewpubs in the county. A highlight so far was winning the Gold Medal for American Pale Ale in 1999 at the Great American Beer Festival. The tradition of fine beers continues to this day with the fine efforts of Dave Mentus, Brewmaster. Craig continues oversight of the brewing operation, while continuing a career in Quality Management at a high tech laser equipment manufacturer in Boulder County.
